The latest MacBook Pro have a flaw on the screen and users ask Apple for a warranty program

Apple produces excellent products, that seems to be its virtue, and its price, therefore, also tends to be so. This is the case of their laptops. The mythical MacBook Pro, the favorite of designers or DJs , costs today between 1,505 and 1,999 dollar (official data from the Apple website). For that price one should expect only the best. The unexpected is, however, that the screens of the latest MacBook Pro may fail within a few months.

It is assured by iFixit, a Californian company dedicated to the sale of computer replacement parts, and Rossmann Repair Group, whose business is the repair of computers. And the most surprising thing: at the moment Apple has not denied it.

It's the fault of a mixture of ever finer design with the new Touch Bar (that device to control the screen from the top of the keyboard). That means that the problem is occurring in the MacBook Pro after 2016.

For that Touch Bar, Apple decided to use much thinner cables. Yes, they are thinner and more flexible, but also more fragile than those used up to that moment. As explained by the iFixit blog , the new cables are wrapped around the hinge, which is evident wear every time the screen is opened or closed. So much so that they can be split with a few months of use.

That is the first part of the problem. The second one is even bigger. To make the screen of the MacBook Pro thinner, the cables are part of the screen and therefore can not be replaced; the entire screen must be replaced.

Changing the cables, what a technical service would have done in the case of a MacNook Pro prior to 2016, cost 6 dollars. On the other hand, in these new models with Touch Bar, the change of the whole screen supposes to disburse 600 dollars.

iFixit claims to have detected this vulnerability in the MacBook Pro with 'Touch Bar', but the new MacBook Air seems to have the same problem . Louis Rossman, founder of Rossmann Repair Group, has come up a video to YouTube showing in detail the problem of these screens.

At the moment, Apple has not recognized the problem. But the pressure to do so and take action has taken shape on There are collecting signatures to demand the Cupertino company to launch an extended warranty program to face such an expensive incidence. At this time of Thursday they have already collected 6,500 signatures.
