Who Is John Appleseed ?

You may have noticed, in advertising, tutorials and presentations that Apple has been featuring somebody known as “John Appleseed” to carry out demonstrations of some of their devices. But, do you know who John Appleseed actually is ?

Apparently, if Wikipedia is telling us right, John Appleseed is actually John Chapman( September 26, 1774 – March 11, 1845) .  And, for those of you that haven’t heard of him, he as the American pioneer responsible for the introduction of Apple trees to parts of Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Indiana.  Because of this, he gained the nickname of John Appleseed.

Mark Markkula, one of the CEO’s for Apple – also responsible for helping to fund the Cupertino Company – made use of the name in order to publish programs that he created for the Apple II.
